Just what I needed. I tremendous sleep, good news from Lindsay's show, and Nik has shown me lots of things that put my mind to rest for the film. That man knows so much. :) For coffee soon with Greg. A cuddle with Finn. Then off to see Matt in Cold Comfort Farm with the Lindster. So hopefully after such a peopley day the film can start being treaked on a higher note. Thanks Nik! Last Night I went to Greg and Andy's piece. A very powerful and powerfully presented work on a terribly difficult subject to broach. As the wuss I am I cried a couple of times. Well done and I hope tonight's performance was great. Same to Lindsay, I hope tonight's performance went fantastically. Film news, Nik is going to set me on the technical straight and narrow and we should be on the home straight(S). All the loose ends to tie now (adr, foley, music) and the film is quite close. I think there will be about two or three more lulls not including this one and then a finish and then two more scenes and all this happens again but isolated it shouldn't be too hard to edit and score hopefully. Presently feeling abit tired but hopefully I can get enthused soon, running on low. Maybe some students now they've finished can spur me on on the old blog. :? It's a funny old business, such a long process, I looked at the copyright of the script this morning and it was march 14, 2003 which means I started writing the novel months before that and the film too,.. to now and then the post producing carries on another 18 months at least. I keep remembering the production, and the weird pleasure of the edit and the lovely meetings with all involved, so those things keep the film worth moving, and making more in the future, but you'll never know how nice the idea of stopping is. Then I have an hour in that process and I'm back to seeing magic in the trees and light and camera angles and it starts again, and the idea of stopping seems like the world would stop. But I can't fucking wait to finish I can tell you. Oh for a 20 man post-production team! It's looking bloody lovely though! Right i always said I'd say how I am good to bad and indifferent and no-one seems to be out there at present so I may be franker than normal and tonight, once i got on it just spewed out. Blah blah... de blah. right for coffee, and less self indulgence, a cuddle with Finn :) Friday, April 22, 2005
I've just returned from Katy and Jenny's piece. Was enthralled. Totally amazing. I've been so impressed by all the third year work that I've seen. When you go to an Art show by third years, there's usually two or three significant artists showing good work out of the whole year. But I've seen some really good work with the drama students. Really, well done!!! Been a priviledge to be allowed to come and see your work. Thank you. Sunday, April 17, 2005
I'd just like to say well done on Threepenny Nik, Chris and all those involved, I enjoyed it loads and loads. On the film front, the desert edit plains are dry and tiring, but I have a strange affinity with deserts which is lucky. There is a mirage. The music. Tonight it started. The beginning has music, although this may be a temp track as this may be for the classical tones of other musicians. Not sure. Another section, and so another commencement, which means another brink with fear and all THAT but I have some ideas again which means the fear will go soon and I can get stuck in. I'm looking forward to hear Abdullah's ideas, Rob's cutting A grOOve and I'm getting on with deep opera, piano and guitar tinkling. Lots of reverb, and scary tones. Then maybe Rod and Jeremy from Coffeevolution may get involved. I know the third years are in fear land, I hope you do fantastically. There is not one I've worked with who isn't worth some special work. Good luck you guys!!!!!! Wednesday, April 06, 2005A Shameless plug from Nik Taylor ... I am quite proud to say the colour is done. Or ready for fine fine tuning, but i'm watching it now, and there's only one cut which i'm thinking 'a bit dark'. So its music now and the additional stuff. But that's quite close. Strengthened the contrast and whisped up some of the flash backs. It's looking even nicer now. And it looked damn fine before. Just the sound and visuals are more constant and are getting a feel, I think anyway. Right I'm off to the loo! Enjoy. Good Luck to the third years! |
