Just received a Nigerian Voice Over for the Nigerian Princess in the lobby. Another sad poem. Thanks to Margaret and Baba from Cambridge. Should get in touch with Rod and Abdullah and Buck. Get some tunes and adr sorted. Also will be going upto see Dave Calladine and talking to students at his college. So if your ears burn I'm talking about you guys, showing you off a little, saying how amazing things can happen for no money. Mid next month. Must start thinking about what to talk about. How and why to make films of an expressive type? How to complete something? Why? Who for? Who'll see it? Art Experience versus media experience? The people involved? How special? Why is film so special? lots to think about. Any comments would be appreciated? Also any thing you want to say to Dave I can pass on. Also exciting stuff with the Grey Film. Seems to be beginning. Sporadically, like a coffee splattered beer mat passed around the actor/writers... words noted from childrens comments... microphone placement dictating delivery, and grey-ness... lovely... Total protonic reversal.
Totally! :)) I'd never thought of it with the ghostbusters analogy but it's true. I need more Pina Colladas! All Work and no Play makes jack a dull boy! ;) Wednesday, May 25, 2005
And for all of you into syndication, I've added an Atom Feed at the top of our Blog. Everyone can keep up to date now... go on you know you want to. :) Tuesday, May 24, 2005
But remember; never separate the Ubermensch from the Dionysian, it's a bit like crossing the streams in Ghostbusters. ;) Monday, May 23, 2005
Hey Joe Just read the blogs, very cool sir. I hope all is well in Joe world! I personally feel like I've broken from a bubble. The edit is quite a Neitzschean place, dark and beautiful, a little nihilistic and extreme, and I really do love it and hate it too... but, I bet Becki I could have a weekend off the film and that included no lists and not even any writing or art too. And I bloody did it. I enjoyed it too. I think the reason I don't stop is cause I know I enjoy it and momentum is tricky to recover. The cool thing is there are a few technical endeavours to iron out, some re-recording but in the grand scope of things it's virtually finished. I'm going to see if some colour ideas I had at beginning that I didn't have energy to fulfil, might work. (Custom gradients of colour burnt into the images) I have regained energy now, and if they look good there are places they will work beautifully, if not i've tried. There are two new scenes to do which will be nice to finish on a shoot and then a smaller edit. But I have some cool ideas for music that i'd like to ask advice about. And what you said about the shoot Joe is terrific. I feel the same totally. You were/are an amazing bunch of people to share a story with that came from a very deep place. Scenes to re-record are in van with gogo and some maurizzio eating sausages and proposing marriage by the sea, a little Jenny "withanother", and a harry word or two again swamped by that thing called the sea. It's good to feel like the film is getting there. It really is and I can't say how proud i am of it, you all and your work, and me too. This was a massive film to undertake on energy and spirit and it is bloody good. night night Tuesday, May 10, 2005
Fritz Lang once claimed that widescreen formats were only good for coffins and snakes... bless Sunday, May 08, 2005
Hi People, Long time, no post. How is everybody? I want to say I didn't stop watching whats been going on but I have been offline for a while now and feel that I have lost track of progress. ADR though, cool, is there a lot of dialogue that you need to replace? Are we approaching P-Day? (Premiere Day). I am so easily exciteable when it comes to thinking about this film, the very idea of it just brings a smile to my face. Working with you guys was such a good experience, on so many levels. Not just because I now do for a living what I was doing for MWE (yeah I no longer get the coffee at Editworks), but also because spending an Autumn with great people, doing something you love is not easily forgotten. Aw, I am getting all nostalgic now so I am going to sign off before I start weirding you out. Joe
Things seem to be moving very fast on the film these days. No sooner do I see a dvd, then I hear a little bit more has been done. LOL We shall await the final cut. It's looking good ;)
Thanks Matt :) Have done a fuck load (excuse the language) this last week. Music is nearly there. Digi FX, Foley and VOs mostly done,... What's left: mostly ADR, New Scenes and additional music from Abdullah Rob and Rod now. How exciting is that? I can actually feel Marco coming back away from intense fucker on the railroad of Art guy! Pina Colladas and reading,... I must have pina colladas and read before the next project... That shall be my mantra! coming soon!!! Thursday, May 05, 2005
Marco - keep going, you're almost there, you can do it! Thanks for coming to see me in my play (thanks to Nik & Lindsay, too) - glad you enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. Keep the faith - Matt |
